Summary

The Winston-Dillard School District selected IMS as their Owner’s Representative and Construction Manager after passing a GO-bond measure. We managed the selection of the design team and consultants, and then selection of the general contractor using the CM/GC method. This project replaced two 50-year-old single-story classroom buildings with one new two-story facility that includes 9 classrooms, a science classroom, art classroom with indoor kiln, DLC classroom, media center, kitchen, commons, full administration offices and several break-out spaces. The project also added a new competition gym with locker rooms and concessions and renovated the existing gym floor, locker rooms and lobby. Pre-engineered metal buildings were used for the primary structures of both buildings with wood structure in-fill. The new classroom building was in the heart of the campus and replacement involved phased demolition, and all new power, data, water, sewer and storm drain infrastructure as well as interconnection to other buildings that were not touched by this program. The primary parking lot was replaced along with other improvements including canopies and a new monument sign, all accomplished with school in session. Through teamwork and collaboration with District leaders and the project team, this project was completed on schedule and under budget, while enabling school to continue during construction.
